Loyal to the Soil
Dada Nolt'ee Nowhii! Hello everyone! My name is Alex Osuna, I am White Mountain Apache (Dzil Ligai Sai Ndee) although my ancestral homelands are located in what is now known as Arizona I was born and raised here in Southern California.
I am an accomplished Herbalist, Food Forager, Bowyer, Trail Guide, Horse Trainer, Rider and Survivalist. I've always felt most at home in a forest and gravitated towards occupations that allowed me to be outdoors, especially if it included working with animals. I've been working with horses and other large livestock for the past 12+ years. Fashioning my own hand made bows and arrows for almost 2 decades and have a full life's experience handcrafting all manner of things from brain tanning my own leather to ornate beadwork. I have extensive experience working with whole families as a veteran horseback trail guide, sometimes being responsible for a dozen people at a time. I've also worked directly with children for years as a riding instructor. I grow my own fruits, vegetables and herbs at home to maintain a healthy supply of herbal remedies. At this point in my life I take great pride in the fact that I know how to train, care for and ride horses, shoot on foot or on horseback with my own hand made bow and how to grow or forage food/medicines year round. I am eager to share my knowledge of the natural world with the intention of strengthening our communities through self reliance and healthy living habits. I encourage whole families and friend groups to learn these skills together and practice them as a productive bonding experience. I'm here to offer old world knowledge and indigenous perspectives in the modern day in hopes that I can help as many people as possible find a sustainable way of living. Let's Learn Together, Grow Together and Create a Better World Together.
I Live To Serve All Life
I want to help reconnect people with nature in practical ways that can be fun and useful. Everything learned here can be done alone but is far more efficient when working together as a community. I see people struggling to keep up with rising costs of food, medicines and self care items. Not to mention our collective awareness of the harmful chemicals used in many of these products, the desire to find a more natural approach to our health has been rising. In this regard I am empowered by my knowledge, I know exactly what I'm putting into my body. Personally, I don't need to buy fruit or greens for the first 6 to 8 months of the year, I can forage enough for myself and even a bit for friends and family. Since I use many of these teas and extracts I've been in good health my whole life. I don't remember the last time I was sick, I even coasted through Covid with no illness. There are so many edible and useful plants growing here, when you combine that with the possibility of growing your own and trading with your neighbors in the future, there is a huge opportunity for community growth and sustainability that we've never tapped into.
